LAT online panel discussion on April 27, 2023, from 3 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. CEST

Join the discussion on “Data-based training – efficiency lever or the end of instructor competencies?”

In airline operations, data from all flights have been analyzed for a long time and are incorporated into optimization concepts. Only rarely, however, do emergency situations occur. We intent to capture and analyze borderline situations practiced in the course of the training in order to generate insights for all stakeholders that make more targeted training possible. Together with CAE and Brussels Airline, we initiated a testing procedure on the topic of data-based training. During the training on an A320 full-flight simulator, data will be collected that will be analyzed and evaluated in the second phase. These data will serve as the basis for training analyses, can be integrated into competency-based training & assessment, and can, in analogous application of flight data monitoring, lead to optimization.

In the panel discussion we will pose the question of how data-based training will change pilot training. What are the opportunities offered and limits entailed by data-based training? Is this the beginning of artificial intelligence being used in aviation training? Will data eventually become more important than instructors? Is this the beginning of the “glass pilot”?

We are very pleased to present five renowned speakers who will share their expertise and experience on this topic:

  • Daniel Gundermann – TRI / TRE A320 – Deutsche Lufthansa AG
  • Adolfo Klassen – CEO and Founder – Paladin AI
  • Georg Obermaier – Chief Instructor – Deutsche Lufthansa AG
  • Annika Pannenberg – Deputy Nominated Person Crew Training – Air Hamburg
  • Steven Perna – Chief Flight Instructor – Brussels Airlines

The event will be moderated by Philipp Heinbockel, Senior Director Pilot Training, and Oliver Hofmann, Head of Business Development, both Lufthansa Aviation Training.
