EXTENSION OF TRAINING FACILITY IN VIENNA

  • Investment package allows growth for Lufthansa Aviation Training Austria GmbH
  • More space for three full flight simulators and two flight training devices
  • Regular operations during the construction phase

Lufthansa Aviation Training Austria GmbH extends its training location in Vienna with regard to pilot training and creates more space for additional modern training devices for the training of pilots.

With an investment package including a double-digit million amount, the go-ahead was given for Lufthansa Aviation Training to extend the training location of Lufthansa Aviation Training Austria in Vienna. The simulator center, which has been in operation since 2006, currently accommodates four full flight simulators (FFS) and two flat panel trainers (FPT).

The planned extension of the building offers space for up to three additional full flight simulators and two flight training devices (FTD) as well as the associated briefing rooms. Initially, two new Airbus A320 simulators will be added to the training fleet in Vienna.

The location is popular among customers in the field of pilot training: the cockpit personnel of more than 20 airlines regularly train in Vienna. Lufthansa Aviation Training Austria not only ensures the regular training of pilots of Lufthansa Group airlines such as Austrian Airlines and Eurowings Europe, but is also attractive for airlines and low-cost carriers from the external market.

"We are proud and delighted to be able to make further investments of this kind just twelve years after the simulator centre in Vienna went into operation. Our goal is to continue to offer our airline customers in Vienna a modern training environment with even more simulator capacity thanks to the latest equipment in addition to our tailor-made training solutions", says Christian Korherr, Managing Director of Lufthansa Avi-ation Training Austria.

The current total training capacity of the existing training equipment in Vienna of 24,000 hours per year will more than double after the extension.

The planned extension of the building offers space for up to three additional full flight simulators and two flight training devices (FTD) as well as the associated briefing rooms.
