Direct application with SPHAIR certificate*

Have you successfully completed the SPHAIR program and received a SPHAIR certificate*? Then you have the best prerequisites for starting a career as a pilot with one of the Swiss airlines - SWISS or Edelweiss. You will complete your commercial pilot training at the European Flight Academy, the Lufthansa Group's flight school.

Your benefits are:

Direct application without DLR certificate possible with the SPHAIR certificate* (please note: at the end of a successfully completed training course, this only entitles the applicant to enter the cockpits of the Swiss airlines SWISS and Edelweiss. The SPHAIR certificate must contain a recommendation for the professional pilot career. For SPHAIR certificates issued before May 2024, a new certificate containing a corresponding verification code must be downloaded from the SPHAIR website. The SPHAIR certificate must not be older than 5 years on the day of Step 2 in the “Lufthansa Group Assessment” selection procedure. We therefore recommend that all interested parties submit their application well in advance of the 5-year deadline).
No VFAL screening is required to apply for VFAL support money (training contributions for professional airline pilots).

These are the pre-requisites you need to meet in order to enjoy the benefits:

Swiss citizen
Registration for SPHAIR screening between the ages of 17 and 23 (sphair.ch)
Must have obtained a SPHAIR certificate* (not older than five years on the day of completion of Step 2 in the “Lufthansa Group Assessment” selection process)
