Boeing 777-9 lands at the training center

  • Lufthansa Aviation Training receives first 777-9 Full-Flight Simulator delivered to an Airline Group
  • Heavy-load transport arrives in Frankfurt early Thursday morning
  • Installation of 777-9 simulator begins at Lufthansa’s largest hub

Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) has taken delivery of the first Boeing 777-9 full-flight simulator ever delivered to an airline group. Early Thursday morning, the simulator arrived at the Lufthansa Training Center in Frankfurt from CAE’s manufacturing factory in Montréal - or more precisely, in a large wooden shipping crate. Assembly and installation work at the site will now commence, with “Ready for Training” for Lufthansa Airlines scheduled for the end of May 2026.

The simulator’s transatlantic journey - from its arrival at the Port of Antwerp to its overnight heavy-load transport to Frankfurt am Main on February 19, 2026 - marks another important milestone on the Lufthansa Group’s path toward introducing the Boeing 777-9 into its fleet.

Configured to match Lufthansa’s first future aircraft, the new Boeing 777-9 full-flight simulator sets early benchmarks in pilot training. It is equipped with the Rockwell Collins EP 8100 visual system, Eyevis ESP-LWQX-2000 projectors, and a highly realistic smoke simulation. The system is complemented by a modern briefing and debriefing station, enabling structured preparation and post-training analysis.

While delivery of the new aircraft itself is still pending - currently scheduled for mid-2027 - Lufthansa Aviation Training is already one step ahead. The company once again demonstrates its commitment to proactively supporting its customers’ fleet modernization programs.

"With the first 777-9 full-flight simulator delivered to an airline group, the new aircraft generation has now symbolically landed here in Frankfurt — unfortunately well before the first 777-9 will actually carry Lufthansa passengers. In just a few weeks, we will be able to optimally prepare our pilots for their future operations on this innovative aircraft. Once again, our close partnership with CAE has been a decisive success factor. We are proud to offer our customers state-of-the-art training capabilities at an early stage - LAT and the Lufthansa Group are ‘Ready for 777-9'.”
Matthias Spohr, CEO Lufthansa Aviation Training

“At CAE, everything starts with our customers. Working with Lufthansa Aviation Training to bring this 777 9 full flight simulator into service gives flight crews early access to training that accurately reflects the aircraft they will soon operate. Our proven simulator expertise, combined with the latest training technologies, ensures pilots are ready for the moments that matter.”
Alexandre Prévost, President, Civil Aviation at CAE
