European Flight Academy: Lufthansa Group flight school launches training of pilots

  • After more than two pandemic years: In the summer of 2022, the European Flight Academy will commence training operations
  • Time was put to use for a realignment of the flight school: Focus is on the quality of the training and the maximization of job prospects
  • Training at the flight school will open the doors into Lufthansa Group cockpits
  • Sustainability: Entire training will be carbon-neutral

Starting in the summer of 2022, the European Flight Academy will be “ready for take-off”: The Lufthansa Group flight school is going to take up operations with the courses for the two-year airline transport pilot training. The training had to be terminated at all European Flight Academy locations in March 2020. With this relaunch, Lufthansa Group continues to show its commitment to its own pilot training and secures young professionals as well as the highest standards of quality for the Group airlines in the long term.

Lufthansa Aviation Training cooperates with United Aviate Academy in reorganization of flight school in Goodyear

  • LAT transfers Goodyear training location lease to United Aviate Academy
  • Vision of long-term cooperation in the future training of pilot students

Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) and United Aviate Academy (UAA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Airlines, have signed a series of agreements related to the transfer of the European Flight Academy (EFA) flight school campus located in Goodyear, Arizona, including the lease and certain training equipment. The assignment takes place with immediate effect. LAT and UAA have also entered into an agreement whereby UAA will provide pilot training services on behalf of LAT.

  • Second-largest LAT location bundles aviation training under one roof in Berlin-Schönefeld
  • Ready for training: Safety training now possible in Schönefeld
  • Airline crews benefit from immediate proximity to Berlin-Brandenburg Airport

Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) bundles the training portfolio for cockpit and cabin crews at its second-largest location in Berlin-Schönefeld. The historically important location has been home to pilot training for more than 30 years. Since the beginning of September, safety training for crews has also been offered there. These training courses have been held in Berlin-Waltersdorf for the past 10 years.

Lufthansa Aviation Training to Serve as Launch Customer for L3Harris Technologies Boeing 787 Flight Training Device

  • ​​​ Launches first Boeing 787 Flight Training Device (FTD) in the market
  • Order includes one Boeing 787 Full Flight Simulator (FFS)
  • Builds on L3Harris delivery of two A320 FTDs and 1 A350 to LAT in recent years 

Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) has become the launch customer for the new, state-of-the-art L3Harris Technologies Boeing 787 Flight Training Device (FTD) which along with an additional order for a Boeing 787 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) provides a best-in-class training solution in their Frankfurt pilot training facility.
