EATS 2025 in Cascais – Connecting Generations of Training

Exchange, innovation and key training trends in focus

Two inspiring days full of exciting insights are behind us: This year’s European Airline Training Symposium (EATS) in Cascais once again provided an ideal platform for exchanging ideas on the latest developments, innovations, and trends in aviation training.
A key topic this year was Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) – an approach that continues to shape the evolution of modern training methods and plays a vital role for us at Lufthansa Aviation Training. In addition, digitalization and artificial intelligence in training as well as the increasing use of virtual reality (VR) and immersive learning technologies were among the dominant themes of the event.

Under the motto “Training Generations of Aviation. Then. Now. Next.”, we showcased our deep-rooted expertise and long-standing experience in aviation training. Visitors were invited to take a journey through the history of training – featuring original training manuals from the 1950s to the 1990s, historical videos, and fascinating photos from past decades. The “Today” area highlighted our current KPIs, demonstrating how we ensure training quality and customer satisfaction today. Finally, our “Next” section provided a look into the future of aviation training with insights into our innovation fields – including a live demo of our research project D-CEET, which paves new ways for digital cabin training.

Lufthansa Aviation Training also had a strong presence in the conference program, contributing to a total of five sessions. Our CEO Matthias Spohr took part in a panel discussion and, together with Frank Rindt, held a presentation on our case example CBTA in Pilot Training. In addition, Gunputh Raghoonundun (Birdy) contributed two sessions on innovative cabin training approaches, while Maximilian Zweybrücken presented our new Virtual Procedure Cockpit-Training together with our airline partner Brussels Airlines – a great example of how modern technologies are shaping the future of learning in aviation.

With more than 1.000 participants and 92 exhibitors, EATS 2025 once again demonstrated how dynamically the aviation training industry continues to evolve. The wide range of innovations – from new training concepts and simulator technologies to digital tools – clearly underlined how future-oriented the industry is.
