LUFTHANSA AVIATION TRAINING AND SUNEXPRESS EXTEND COOPERATION

  • Modernized Recurrent Training for Cockpit and Cabin Crew of SunExpress Germany
  • Long-standing cooperation between LAT and SunExpress Germany to continue in 2019

SunExpress Germany continues to build on the training competence of Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT). In 2019, more than 1,100 crew members of the airline will again conduct their recurring safety and emergency training courses at LAT.

The outsourcing of crew training to an external provider brings airlines measurable benefits in terms of efficiency, cost structure and quality. SunExpress Deutschland has been working closely with Lufthansa Aviation Training for years on the safety and emergency training of its cockpit and cabin crews. The airline recently extended the contract with the training provider. The contract covers the revision of the Recurrent Training, which both companies have jointly developed. "Our goal is to offer our customers law-compliant, efficient and up-to-date aviation training according to their specific needs. To this end, we continuously review existing training concepts in mutual coordination and further develop them accordingly. Together with SunExpress, we have recently been able to optimize the training concept for the recurring cockpit and cabin safety training and adapt it to the current situation," explains Ola Hansson, CEO and Managing Director of Lufthansa Aviation Training. In addition, we are currently working together on new concepts for initial and conversion training.

SunExpress is a joint venture of Lufthansa and Turkish Airline, employs more than 1,100 people in the field of flying personnel and has been operating as a holiday airline for 30 years. The crews are required by law to attend recurrent training courses once a year to obtain their license - including first aid, crew resource management (CRM), emergency and security trainings. At the LAT locations in Frankfurt and Munich, all relevant training equipment is available, including one B737 CEET and one A330 Door Trainer each. The trainings are conducted by trainers working for LAT as well as SunExpress trainers themselves. All were qualified for the revised Recurrent Training at the end of 2018.

The "Safety & Service Training" division at LAT is responsible for the development and implementation of these SunExpress training courses. Safety & Service Training is, along with Pilot Schools and Pilot Training, one of the core processes of Lufthansa Aviation Training GmbH. Its portfolio includes the design and implementation of EASA-compliant safety training courses and service and product training courses tailored to the customer and his branding. The focus is on the training and further education of cabin and cockpit personnel of Lufthansa Group Airlines and external airline customers. Training from the Safety, Emergency, Human Factors/CRM and Service & Culture segments is also offered to customers from non-airline-specific areas.
